| About |
| After graduating from Edinburgh University with a degree in English Literature and Greek, Jane Sillars worked in television for several years. She has researched on arts programming and current affairs documentaries for the BBC and a range of independent companies. She completed an MPhil in Media and Culture at Glasgow University, and joined the department in 1996. |
| Research |
| Her central research interest lies with questions of nationality and identity, particularly in relation to film and television in Scotland. She is interested in the ways identity is staged in film and television; and writes on topics including gender, sexuality and Scottish film and postcoloniality and European cinema. |
| Teaching |
| Her teaching specialisms are Scottish film and television, gender and sexuality and race and ethnicity; and she also works across the British media, film analysis and television theory. |
